Breast cancer is most treatable when detected early, yet far too many women in the South Sound region delay or skip their mammograms because of distance, cost, or time constraints. We’re changing that by bringing advanced 3D mammography directly to the community — meeting women where they are, when it matters most.
OVERVIEW
We are the South Puget Sound’s first dedicated Mobile Mammography Program started by the TRA Medical Imaging Foundation and operated by TRA Medical Imaging.
BACKGROUND
The mission of the TRA Medical Imaging Foundation is to promote better health and wellbeing by expanding access to medical imaging services and supporting workforce development opportunities. In early 2024, the Foundation’s Board of Directors recognized the longstanding need for a mobile mammography program in the South Sound and convened a meeting of key stakeholders to assess the need, gauge community interest, and address the challenges of building such a program.
FINANCIAL
Thanks to the generous support of our community, we have raised more than $2 million dollars to cover capital costs and provide initial operating funds necessary to launch this life-saving program. To ensure we fulfill our mission and reach as many individuals as possible, we will seek to raise a minimum of $500,000 dollars annually. The on-going annual support dollars will directly provide access free screening events and expand our outreach efforts by helping us remove barriers to care and provide vital services to those who need them most.
TIMELINE
Operations are slated to commence in the summer of 2026.​
